Every once in a while, we need to stop and consider where we are in life. My favorite example comes from then LTC Hal Moore during his cliff-hanging battle in the Ia Drang Valley during the Vietnam War. During short lulls in the battle, he would stop and ask himself, “What is happening, what is not happening, what can I do to influence the action.” Of course, he didn’t have time to consider criticism of his efforts because he was the commander on the ground. He did what he had to do with the available resources, not even thinking of what might be said after the battle. Go with your gut, but stop and consider your circumstances as LTC Moore did. No fear!
