Monday Morning Musings

“You have to be willing sometimes to listen to some remarkably bad opinions.” John Byron

One mandate of leadership is to actively listen and not judge the input. It is a really good idea to canvas your team for their input so their voices will be heard and they will feel valued. Ray Dalio has two really good principles about being open-minded. One is to make being open-minded a habit. The other is using logic, reason, and common sense as your best decision-making tools. Emotions can get the best of us, leading to bad opinions and input. Good leaders know bad input when they hear it and will rapidly gravitate to those who provide input based on facts and logic to make critical decisions.
