The two main tenants for Performance Coaches are “do not judge” and “actively listen.” Both of these were challenging in my transition out of the Army and into coaching. Military officers are busy, and they are decision-makers by definition. I had to really, really work hard on both. I am not saying I am great at either, but I got better, and I am getting better.
